Beyonce opened up for this month’s Self magazine about her charity foundations and revealing one area she is trying to improve in.
Beyonce, founder of Beyonce Cosmetology Center and The Survivor Foundation, says that she tried to keep her charity work out of the spotlight:
“I’ve always felt that you should give because it’s what you can do to help,” “You don’t do it to get praised. For a long time, being quiet about what I did was a conscious decision.”
She thinks everyone should take a look around them and find a way to help out – no matter how big or small:
“When you look around at all that’s wrong in the world, the need to do something, no matter how big or how small, is clear.”
She admits that she’s not (gasp!) perfect. One area of herself she’s working on:
“I promise I’m working on this, but I could be less messy at home and keep the clothes in my closet and off the floor,”

I have done a lot of work for mentally disabled adults in my area. Including President of the board for one organization. No one really knows this and I normally do not talk about it. My way of giving back to the community. More people should get involved in their communities and get to know the people that need help and those who help. Stop bashing stars who give. Can you do what Brad and Angie do? If not every little bit helps.

“you do what you can but you don’t do it to get praise” EXACTLY….that was my point all along. Lots of people do a great deal of charity but they don’t brag about it….take a hint Brangelinas!!!

Habitat for Humanity is my favorite. You get to do a good thing and learn a new skill because you’re basically working as and apprentice alongside housing contractors, plumbing contractors and electrical contractors who are teaching you as you go.
Beyonce opened her cosmetolegy center in a rehab called Phoenix House to help people get back on their feet after battling addiction. Google it.
