Lady Gaga: New York’s Greatest Gift To Pop Culture?

Lady Gaga, Chloe Sevigny, and Marc Jacobs are among New York artists featured in the September 2nd issue of V Magazine – the “New York Issue”. V’s editor had this to say about Gaga:

Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion. She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city. In the year that’s passed, she has become a bonafide genius and we can safely declare her our muse. Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who’ve done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!

Wow, talk about words of praise. I’d save a few copies of that issue if I were Lady Gaga.

Wow.. underwear, platform boots and ripped fishnets. this is the embodiment of New York? I’ll be the NY street walkers are pissed off about that.. they have been doing it for years. Just missing the crazy hair

As a lifelong New York-er, I’m actually kind of embarrassed. I love Lady Gaga and think she’s absolutely amazing, but the magazine really had to show her on the cover in her underwear and mocking the statue of liberty?

I need to check the gossip pages more. I didn’t recognize Gaga without the superbright blonde hair.

That doesn’t even look like her — they somehow made her more attractive.

  6. Charaze says:

She looks really pretty there. I think GaGa is beautiful, but the heavy makeup just messes it all up.

Beacon of creativity? She is the beacon of modern culture that shows no patience, no originality and no soul. To call her a genius just shows that people have forgotten what a real artist looks and sounds like, so they accept this piece of trash who is doing nothing but copying other artists and talking in fake accents just so that she can be like Madonna.

Btw, she also has one of the most dead eyes I have ever seen. I guess cocaine does that to you.

mwhahahaaaa that’s some funny shit. oh plueeeze.
