It’s about time something was finally said! Last night Fox finally made a formal announcement: Kara DioGuardi will not be returning to ‘American Idol.’ Kara released a statement:
“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol,” said DioGuardi Friday. “I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol – it has truly been an amazing experience.”
Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are still rumored to be the two new judges who will join the only original ‘American Idol’ judge remaining, Randy Jackson. Here’s what ‘American Idol’ producer Nigel Lythgoe said about the upcoming season:
“We will be bringing the spotlight back onto the talent and away from the judges. I think that’s really very important, especially when you lose such a superb judge as Simon Cowell. You need to move the spotlight off him very quickly! But in truth, we’ve forgotten that it’s the talent that drives the program at the end of the day.”
If Steven and Jennifer do become judges, that seems very unlikely, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

I wasn’t sure I was going to watch without Simon and now without Ellen AND Kara, I’m not even going to bother. Randy is the only judge I didn’t like and I feel like all this speculation is getting really old and they’re just doing it to make us watch and see what happens (since the ratings were already low last season and will probably be worse without Simon).
