Angelina Jolie Meets With Flood Victims In Pakistan

Angelina Jolie spent the day in Nowshera, Pakistan. The celebrity mom, actress, and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador is visiting Pakistan’s northwest region to draw the world’s attention to the millions of people affected by the country’s floods.

We seem to get this sort of “A.D.D.” when it comes to tragedies in other areas of the world. I think it was George Clooney who said that when a new disaster strikes, we sort of move on and forget about the previous one. Like whichever one is being focused on in the media, we clamor to help and then it’s like “okay, NEXT!” while there is still SO MUCH to be done. (Like with Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, etc.)

It’s so nice hearing about celebrities doing good, lending a helping hand and bring attention to issues/disasters.
I couldn’t agree with you more about the helping then moving on part. There is so much more that can be and needs to be done in all the areas affected by disaster. There are enough people who can lend a helping hand everywhere. Yes, it’s good to focus on the current disasters and bring attention to those, but there is still so much to be done to help the past ones.
A group from my church went down a month or two after the Haiti quake and we are sending down another team in a few weeks. They are still in need of supplies, food and water, medical supplies, tents and shelters, etc.

Your such a bitch you never have anything nice to say, I do not see you going to help…..and sure do not see SKANKIFER helping either. so sad is how jealous you are. YOU are the one who clicks on the thread to read it, if I hate someone as much as you hate Angie its NOT worth my time commenting……you are truly pathetic and you must lead a miserable life

I wasn’t an Angie fan. But i admit that watching her helping people that the rest of the world ignores, gives me the goosebumps. She is such a nice person. Among all the rich celebrities, how many of them is as thoughtful and helpful as her? She might have a darker past but I think she has a big heart.

Great leadership by example, Angie. You have shown us to be a Superwoman in the movies, Supermom at home with your children and husband and now Superambassador in giving these Pakastanis Hope in a time of great despair. May God Richly Bless you and your family!

If you look at what Angie is actually doing, she’s not single handedly financing the solution, she’s bringing attention to the cause, and the most effective timing is when these disasters first strike. If she was helping out at Katrina right now people would be more inclinded to feel “been there done that now it’s up to the government”. It’s not her fault that the public has become so accustomised to sensationalism that we only really react to “breaking news” and the only way to bring the most effective attention to the cause is for people like Angie to cater to the public’s tiny attention spans.
