Whatever happened between Casey Affleck and the two women who alleged he sexually harassed them during the making of the Joaquin Phoenix documentary ‘I’m Still Here’ will remain secret now, I suspect. Casey reached a settlement with both women.
“The disputes between Flemmy Productions, LLC and Casey Affleck with Amanda White and Magdalena Gorka in connection with the film ‘I’m Still Here’ have been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties and the lawsuits are being dismissed,” the Affleck camp said in a statement.
Financial details of the settlement were not disclosed.
I know there are a lot of good reasons to settle these types of lawsuits besides guilt (like, not wanting to spend the entire publicity campaign for ‘I’m Still Here’ responding to questions about the lawsuit), but these settlements always put a question mark in my mind: if you aren’t guilty, why not fight so you can protect your name?
Well, hopefully everyone is satisfied with the outcome. I guess that’s what really matters.
