Terry McMillan Says Jaden And Willow Smith Are Being “Pimped And Exploited”

Uh-oh. ‘Waiting to Exhale’ and ‘Stella Got Her Groove Back’ author Terry McMillan took to twitter to give her opinion on the rising stars of Jaden and Willow Smith, the kids of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

USA Today reports this is what Terry wrote:

“The Smith children already act like child stars. There’s an arrogance in their demeanor and behavior,” she wrote. “I find it incredibly sad. It feels like the Smith children are being pimped and exploited. Or, they’re already hungry for fame. What about 4th grade?”

Those tweets have been deleted, although these tweets remain:

I apologize for using the word pimp and exploit in referring to the Smith children. It was insensitive of me and wrong.

Twitter is not the best forum to express some things. I didn’t know folks would take my opinion so personally.

Terry isn’t exactly known for being diplomatic and tactful ;). But what do you think:

I think its no ones business but their parents what they do. Im sure the children are loving their fame and getting to do things most kids just dream of. whats it to her?

Yeah, its noone’s business the kids are INDEED pimped and exploited by their parents and its as clear as daylight. But not for idiots like u it seems. Truth is incovenient, it stinks and it hurts. Terry said the truth but she was forced by the Smith stooges to apologize. U need a drawing to understand that? Remember what happened to MJ?

For some time now, I’ve found the entire Smith family to be unbearable. Their appearance on the Oprah show was so off-putting to me.

She is spot on! Their parents are idiots. These kids are obnoxious, arrogant, self-entitled spoil brats. Jada already admitted that she doesn’t believe in discipline and Willow admitted that she’s behind school because she’s too busy touring. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb!!

Really is only the business of Will and Jada…

I think both parents are pretty responsible and hands on so i’m sure they wouldn’t allow their children to spiral out of complete control.

Both Jaden and Willow are incredibly talented and it’s nice that their parents encourage them to follow their dreams!! I hope they also encourage them to follow through with education and if Willow really is falling behind, Will and Jada dont strike me as the type to be so irrisponsible as to not address it.

Again, it’s only the business of the Smiths…

Ms. McMillan needs to fallback a little. I follow her on twitter and will soon be deleting her if she doesnt watch her dang tweets. She is extremely judgemental and doesnt think before she speaks/tweets.

I agree with everything she said. Those kids should be in school to get a proper education.

I do have to interject to say that it’s normal for these kids to want to get into showbiz. Heck, I’m sure that if any of you had famous parents, then you’d want to follow in their footsteps too.

I think its horrible that anyone can sit here and say such horrible things about a 9year old that they dont even know. Will and Jada are doing parenting the way they know best, and how on earth can any of you claim to know what happens behind closed doors? They could be the best parents ever! Or they could be the worst, but its all speculation because we will never know. There are SO many child stars out there and many that are much worse, look at what Drew Barrymore was, and the beautiful woman she is now, that it seems unfair to pick on these 2 kids just because their mommy and daddy are really famous.
Me personally, I love the Smiths, to me they seem like a great, loving and supportive family.
