Excerpt From Katy Perry’s Mother’s Memoir

I can’t even imagine how a Christian minister would deal with having one of their children grow up to be a pop star (and then become engaged to a “foul-mouthed” comedian to boot)- LOL. Katy Perry has talked about it, and I told you how her mother, Mary Hudson, was writing a memoir. Now here’s an excerpt:

In the full proposal obtained by Page Six, she describes her horror at Katy’s outfits: Backstage at a concert, “Katy stepped out from behind the changing doors in a tiny risqué costume. No mother wants to see the top of her daughter’s boobs . . . My first instinct was to order her back behind those doors and demand she put something else on . . . However, I had no problem letting my eyebrows say what I wouldn’t allow my mouth to utter.”

Mary also writes about how she hopes Katy becomes “a Kathryn Kuhlman type of leader”:

“I recognized the psalmist gift in her performance. Yet she sang out, ‘I kissed a girl, and I liked it,’ while thousands joined her. One part of my heart soared . . . the other part broke for the thousands of hungry souls being fed something that didn’t nourish their spirit, but fed their flesh.

“Oh, dear God, how can I save her from all this? The money, the fame, the network, the people surrounding her, how can I compete?”

Katy’s rep didn’t have any comment when contacted by Page Six. I guess Mary is hoping if the book becomes a bestseller, Katy may hear what she has to say, I don’t know. Are you curious about this book?

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea there was a memoir, I’ve only recently started following you. This is VERY interesting. I would love to read that book. I’ve often wondered what her parents thought. BTW, this is an entry for the Untouched giveaway.

I really really dont understand the ‘no mother wants to see the top of her daughters boobs’ bit. I mean seriously, youd see that in a bathing suit, in a vneck tshirt for gods sake, not even a low cut one at that. I can’t get over how stupid that sentence sounds, and how prudish it would make her mother. Theres being reserved and theres just being silly. I have friends whose mothers regularly see even more than the ‘top’ of their boobs. gasp oh the horror. If she cant cope with seeing clevage then Im suprised she;s not died of shock from MTV let alone her daughters outfits.

My daughter runs around her house naked and it doesn’t change just because I’m there. Oh the horror! lol

This book sounds like it is just going to be filled with Over the top, homophobic, bigoted, ridiculous Christian murmurings. I would rather sit on my own face than ever read that tripe.

More power to ya, mama. I feel sorry for you. What an embarrassment. While I’m sure people will respond with things like how much money Katy is making, as though that has anything to do with anything. What a sad state we are in
