Demi Lovato Says She’s Not Completely Better Yet

Demi Lovato may be back at work (she has a new single, ‘Skyscraper’), but that doesn’t mean the problems that led to her hospitalization are completely behind her.

“This is an ongoing process, and the hardest part about these diseases is that they’re things that I’m going to have to face every day for the rest of my life.”

Demi says she was diagnosed with bulimia, anorexia, self-mutilation, depression, and bipolar disorder. (I’m not sure how you get diagnosed with both depression and bipolar disorder, but goodness!)

“I’m going to mess up, and I’m not going to be perfect. But as long as I try every day to get better and better myself, then I’m one step ahead of where I was before.

“Cutting has become so common with so many girls, and in almost every family, people have tried it or experimented with it. And there is addiction all over the place.”

I don’t know if cutting is in “almost every family,” but it certainly does happen. Demi also acknowledges that trying to heal in the spotlight isn’t easy: I bet it isn’t! Hopefully she’s putting her health and well-being above everything else right now and will continue to get better.

Bipolar and depression are many times diagnosed together. Bipolar isn’t depression and depression isn’t bipolar, they are separate diseases. Yes Bipolar can have manic and depressive episodes, but you can still have a diagnosis of Depression as well.
