Linda Evangelista In Nasty Child Support Battle

Have you heard about how Linda Evangelista and Francois-Henri Pinault (yes, Salma Hayek’s husband) are involved in a court battle over child support? Francois-Henri is the father of Linda’s five-year-old son Augustin (Augie). Augie reportedly was conceived when the two dated for four months in 2005.

Linda apparently had been fully supporting Augie, but when her L’Oreal contract ended last year, she had to turn to Francois-Henri for help. Yet he’s arguing that her request for nearly $50,000 a month is excessive, calling it “mom support.” Linda’s request includes $15-16,000 per month ex-NYPD chauffeurs as well as a 24-hour nanny at $7,000 a month.

Some very unpleasant details have come out in court, including: Francois-Henri suggested Linda terminate the pregnancy when she told him about it (he admitted on the stand that he was not involved with the decision to have the baby but his rep denied he suggested abortion to the press), Francois-Henri said he would “recognize the baby,” his daughter with Salma was taken on a $52,000-plus 12-day vacation and has a $12 million trust in her name in case things do not work out between Francois-Henri and Salma.

On one hand, it does sound ridiculous that Linda needs nearly $50,000 a month in child support. On the other hand, with child support, the child is supposed to live in a comparable manner that he would if he was with the non-custodial parent. I’m always torn with these cases.

I can’t believe this is even up for debate. Child support laws are very clearly stated. The custodial parent of the child is entitled to a certain percent of the non custodial parent’s income. Period. Why should this rich man be treated any differently? If he doesn’t want to support out of wedlock children, he shouldn’t have unprotected sex.
