Since Stephenie Meyer shelved the project where she was re-writing ‘Twilight‘ (the first book) from Edward’s perspective (‘Midnight Sun‘), I’ve resigned myself to the idea that ‘Twilight‘ is OVER after ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2.’ But… just maybe… that’s not the case. Stephenie confided this when asked about the future of the ‘Twilight Saga’:
“I had planned out where it would go for a couple more books, so I know exactly what would happen. There are other characters that I think would have a lot of voice in those coming stories.
“Maybe someday I’ll write it out, just for myself. We’ll see. I’m not in to permanents so I wouldn’t say no, absolutely. I’m not going to do it today. I don’t know how I’m going to feel in five years.”
Five Years?! Talk about a knife to the heart! But one thing Stephenie won’t do is allow another writer to write future books for her.
“I’m a hands-on mom and these characters feel like my kids. I just don’t know if that’s ever something I’d be fine with. But again, in 10 years, who knows.”
I hope Stephenie feels comfortable enough to write about this world and these characters again! Maybe once ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’ is released and all the hoopla dies down, the pressure will start to ease a little bit. Fingers crossed…
