Finally, after several weeks of London collectively holding its breath and with the media camped outside the hospital, the big day is almost here! Kate Middleton, now officially known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is in labor at the hospital. Kensington Palace released a statement.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour. The Duchess traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”
People reports the Duchess was already in labor when she arrived at the hospital, although USA Today says Kensington Palace would not say if she was induced or not. So #GreatKateWait is almost over, although Kate is said to be planning a natural childbirth, barring complications. With this being her first baby, you may not want to start holding your breath just yet (first time moms sometimes have long labors before delivering). Exciting!
