I would have never pegged Lady Gaga for a One Direction fan, but the superstar singer, who opened last night’s MTV VMA’s made sure to seek out the boy banders and lend them some support after they were booed for winning Song of the Summer.
Watching it at home I couldn’t quite hear the boos but apparently they were quite loud in the Barclay Centre, and Lady Gaga sought out the members of One Direction backstage to lend her support. Saying;
“I want to leave right now, . . . I don’t want to stay anymore because I don’t want to be in a room where people are booing.”
“I just want to tell you that you deserve every bit of success that you have.”
I’m assuming that people were booing because they felt that 1D’s song ‘The Best Song Ever’ wasn’t quite as deserving of the award as maybe Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ but it was a fan voted award so clearly the fans spoke. Personally I think Robin Thicke should have won but it is what it is. I do think it was pretty cool that Lady Gaga took a minute to tell the boys what she thought though.
