Glamour magazine announces its 2013 Women of the Year awards gala this evening at Carnegie Hall in New York City, honoring women across the worlds of entertainment, philanthropy, education, fashion, and politics. The awards ceremony will include a star-studded list of presenters, and Seth Meyers will open the show. L’Oréal Paris is the title sponsor of the awards celebration.
Here are some of our favorites from the long list of starlets:
- Lady Gaga—The Monster Talent: With five Grammy Awards, 23 million albums sold, and more than 40 million Twitter followers, her inimitable star continues to rise. In 2011 she launched the Born This Way Foundation in partnership with Harvard University to help end bullying. Marina Abramović to present.
- Melinda Gates—The Advocate: As co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, one of the world’s largest philanthropic organizations, she has tackled the toughest global health issues. Lena Dunham to present.
- Christy Turlington Burns and Liya Kebede—The Role Models: Through their foundations—Turlington Burns’ Every Mother Counts, a campaign to end preventable deaths caused by pregnancy and childbirth around the world, and Kebede’s Liya Kebede Foundation, which supports maternal health care in Ethiopia—both women are working to make motherhood safer for women everywhere. Iman to present.
We can’t wait to see what everyone wears!
