Have you heard about the controversy surrounding Hayden Panettiere’s Golden Globes dress? The ‘Nashville‘ star rocked the red carpet in a black and white frock which was designed by Tom Ford. When Giuliana Rancic asked Hayden who she was wearing during a red carpet interview, Hayden told her:
“Tom Ford. It’s the first time I’ve ever worn him, because I’ve been begging…I feel sexy in it, I feel comfortable in it, and I’m in Tom Ford. I would wear a plastic bag if it was designed by him.”
This caused a bit of a stir. Apparently Tom is known for dressing only ONE celeb for each awards show, and for the Golden Globes, he dressed Naomi Watts. Journalist Jim Shi tweeted this:
#GoldenGlobes: Tom Ford confirms to me he ONLY dressed #NaomiWatts tonight. Hayden Panettiere BOUGHT her Tom Ford dress at RETAIL. Tsk tsk.
Hayden had bought her Tom Ford dress Off The Rack because she liked the dress and is such a fan of the designer. This, apparently, is a major faux pas: celebs are supposed to borrow a couture gown for events like this. I, personally, loved Hayden’s gown and can understand why she bought it. I would have, too! It turns out, Tom Ford didn’t mind, either. Hayden tweeted a pic of gorgeous flowers and a note which read:
“Dear Hayden, You looked beautiful last night. Thank you for your kind words. Much love, Tom.”
Click on the thumbnail to see the entire picture and note. Tom Ford’s not stupid: why would you NOT want a celeb to BUY one of your dresses and wear it to a major media event like this? LOL Do you think Hayden made a mistake by *gasp* actually BUYING her red carpet gown?
