Glamour is honoring the 75 most important woman of the last 75 years in their 75th anniversary March issue. In the issue, some of today’s biggest celebs nominated women that they felt were deserving of such a huge honor.
According to Glamour,
“The March issue pays tribute to 75 barrier-breaking American women who changed the world for all of us. Women on the list range from Estée Lauder to Marilyn Monroe, Rosa Parks, Gloria Steinem, Billie Jean King, Hillary Clinton, and Beyoncé. Glamour also invited a few notable friends, including Lea Michele, Elisabeth Moss, and Olivia Munn, to nominate women who inspire them.”
Regarding the specific nominations that they made, here’s what Lea Michele and Olivia Munn had to say:
Actress Lea Michele on why she nominated Barbra Streisand:
“Because, when I was a little girl, my mom said to me, ‘Barbra Streisand never got a nose job—you’re never getting one.’ Barbra showed women that it’s not necessary to alter yourself to become successful. Instead, she made the most of what she had, and it launched her career.”
Actress Olivia Munn on why she nominated Lucille Ball:
“Not only did she have this hugely successful TV show on the air at a time when men dominated comedy, she was also an incredibly smart businesswoman. She changed the game! Her show was one of the first to earn residuals. Lucille Ball turned her talent, and her art, into a commodity, and she made real money off it. She knew that if you bet on yourself and you win, you win big.”
Be sure to pick the issue up on newsstands tomorrow, February 11!
