During her discussion she dished on the fact that she feels far older than her 27 years (due to a marriage and divorce all by the age of 21!), and the fact that her parents initially weren’t very supportive of her decision to become a singer.
On her decision to be an artist: “My parents constantly tried to talk me out of being an artist,” she says. “They had gone through the whole journey with my sister and just wanted me to have a normal teenage life.”
On moving from Brooklyn to New Orleans: “I’ve thought about moving to New Orleans for years but just never had the courage to do it. Now my son is at that age where he’s really establishing friends and a community, so I feel like this is a good time to try it out.” Knowles hasn’t forsaken Brooklyn entirely, though, and still keeps an apartment there. “I consider myself a dual citizen at this point.”
