Did you know September is Youth Soccer Month? I had no idea, but soccer moms, take note! ‘Devious Maids’ star Ana Ortiz teamed up with the Active Family Project to kick off the ‘Play Soccer For a Change’ campaign a few days ago on August 19th. The campaign supports US Youth Soccer to give more families the opportunity to be active through soccer. Ana is a great person to do this since she’s also the celebrity spokesperson for Merck Consumer Care’s Active Family Project. RELATED: Ana Ortiz attends NFL Draft celebration.
The goal of the ‘Play Soccer For a Change’ is to encourage family playtime during Youth Soccer Month. Soccer is a great sport to get kids active: it doesn’t have the aggression of, say, football, and is pretty accessible. The organizers are putting their money where their mouth is, however. For every like, comment or share on the Active Family Project Facebook page, from August 19th through September 30th, we will donate $1 to US Youth Soccer, up to $15,000, to go toward soccer equipment and training in underserved communities, giving more families the opportunity to be active together through soccer.
