Julianne Hough
It’s Official: She’s Returning To ‘DWTS’!

2014 Open Hearts Foundation GalaThe rumor was true! Dancing pro-turned-movie star Julianne Hough is returning to her TV roots as a judge on ‘Dancing With The Stars.’ Julianne herself confirmed the news. RELATED: Is Julianne Hough returning to ‘DWTS’?

Julianne explained how she viewed her role as a judge to People:

My role is to encourage and be supportive, and to also be candid and honest and try not to beat around the bush, to be too politically correct. I want to give critiques so they can improve. I’m not there to be harsh or cause a controversy. I won’t be mean or malicious. That’s not who I am. That’s not my role at all.”

What made her decide to return now?

After being on tour with my brother [Derek], it felt like time to move on. I felt like I really reconnected with fans, and the people have supported me since day one. They have followed my from Dancing with the Stars to my other aspirations. It just feels like the perfect time to reconnect and be a part of where it all began, with my family.”

Now Julianne is going to be in the position where she’s judging her own family (i.e., brother Derek Hough, who’s still on the show as a dancing pro). She doesn’t seem to be losing sleep over that.

Derek has been known to be very good with his partnerships. But it’s not about my brother, nor is it about Cheryl or Mark. It’s about the partnership and the celebrity who is dancing.”

So how do you feel about Julianne returning to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as a judge?

I didn’t like her guest-judge stint last season. i thought she was a little mean and harsh. Although she was right telling Maks he was phoning it in. i guess better her than Maks … but I’m not thrilled.
