Kelly Rutherford finally caught a break in the custody battle that has been dragging on for YEARS. Her kids (Hermes, who is eight, and Helena, who is six) arrived in New York City to spend the summer with her here in the States.
It’s the first time Hermes and Helena have been in the United States since they were ordered to live with their father in Monaco by a US judge in 2012. The case is not over: the kids are here because a Monaco judge ordered that they spend the summer with their mother in the States.
The custody case continues in the Monaco courts. I’d say this is a great development for Kelly, however! The US judge said that Kelly could travel to Europe to visit the kids since her ex-husband reportedly was banned from entering the country after his visa was revoked. His visa was revoked over allegations that Kelly, or one of her former attorneys, as she claims, alleged he was involved in illegal activity.
I’m glad Kelly is getting to spend some extended time with her kids. It sounds like the Monaco judge understands that children need regular contact with both parents. Hopefully the judge is working towards something that will be more equitable for everyone.
