One thing I do not envy about celebrities is the scrutiny they have to endure, and for actresses, the body shame that often comes their way. This doesn’t let up while they’re pregnant, either! Jaime King, who’s pregnant with her second child, talked about dealing with body shame.
Jaime discussed the issue with American Baby magazine. She also covers their new issue:
Jaime knows what people are saying about her.
People have made comments about how I’m too thin and need to eat a sandwich. I’ve seen it happen with other pregnant women in this business too — we’re either too thin or put on too much weight. But every woman’s body is different … all that matters is that you’re taking care of the nutrition for yourself and your child.”
That is SO true.
Clearly Jaime is focused on what’s important. What’s her advice to handling all of this, as well as for what those doing the scrutinizing should do?
Don’t let other people get you down, and don’t put other women down either.”
Jaime also talked about how she selected godmothers for her children. Jessica Alba is the godmother for her son, and Taylor Swift will be the godmother for baby #2.
I asked myself, ‘God forbid anything happened to me, would she take care of my child as if he were her own? What kind of morals would she instill? Will she be backup support if for any reason my child doesn’t want to come to me for something?’ I looked for giving people whom I admire, and those two give more than anyone I’ve ever met.”
Jaime also shared something she’s learned as a mother to her son, James.
Sleep when your baby sleeps. Even now that James Knight is older, I know that if I’m tired between 10:30 a.m. and noon, I can lie down and take a nap when he’s napping.”
YES: that is an invaluable piece of advice ;). Look at these pictures of Jaime in these overalls. She- and her baby bump- look completely adorable.
