As anyone who has more than one child knows, baby #2 can bring about quite a change in family life! Prince William and Kate Middleton, formally known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, seem to be managing, however, as they settle into their country home at Anmer Hall with George, who will be two on July 22, and Charlotte, who’s now ten weeks old.
Prince William opened up a bit about his home life in an interview before he began his new job as an air ambulance helicopter pilot.
It’s fantastic having a lovely little family and I am so thrilled.”
They certainly do look happy: look at this family picture that was snapped at Princess Charlotte’s christening:
Locals say the new family is “settling in” to country life well: Kate has even been spotted driving around on her own, running errands. A friend said that William prefers a low-key lifestyle.
William likes nothing more than sitting around a table at mealtimes and having a good laugh.”
That’s a bit of a change from his mother, Princess Diana, who was said to prefer the hustle and bustle of London rather than the quiet country life of Highgrove, her country home with Prince Charles when they were married.
William will be the first heir to the throne to ever hold a civilian job. It’s a natural one, given that he worked as a search-and-rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force while in the military. The prince explained:
I feel doing a job like this really helps with grounding the core of what I am trying to become, just trying to be a good guy, trying to do what you can, trying be a decent individual, thoughtful. Qualities in people that you would want to be associated with.”
That makes sense: having a regular job can be very grounding as opposed to a life of public engagements, which is the typical life of a senior royal family member. It looks like his mother’s efforts to instill some sense of normalcy in him were successful!
