Now this is one celebrity encounter I’d love to have seen! Amy Schumer dropped by ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ to talk about her new movie, ‘Trainwreck.’ She proved that she isn’t just funny on camera with lines written for her, however. She can improvise a good joke! That’s exactly what happened when she met Katie Couric at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards this spring.
Amy explained how it all went down to Jimmy.
I was at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards and Katie Couric comes up. I love her. And she was like, ‘I just love you. I love humor.’ Anyone who loves comedy, would you ever be like, ‘Humor?’ Yeah, no. ‘I want Good Humor,’ like about ice cream, but that’s it. So Katie’s like, ‘I’m going to sit next to you at dinner.’ At dinner it was a good table. It was Colbert—Stephen Colbert—it was Katie and me, and then Mindy Kaling. It was a sick table.”
Sounds like it!
Mindy and I were engaged—we never talked about it, but what I’m now thinking of is a bread-off. Like, we were just seeing who could eat more bread, you know? We were just kind of side-eying each other, like, ‘I’m comfortable in my skin! I don’t care about Hollywood!’ I won!
“Anyway, so then Katie is like, ‘Oh, my God! My husband is here. He wasn’t even invited. This is so embarrassing.’ They’re newly married, I guess. ‘Should I go talk to him?’ Like, I don’t know, Katie Couric!
“She left her phone open to texts from him. Don’t worry! I didn’t do anything. Except I picked it up, just without even thinking, to text him: ‘I wanna have anal tonight.’ And I sent it.”
OMG. And that is why you never leave your cell phone unattended- LOL. It sounds like Amy tried to dodge responsibility, but Mindy Kaling wasn’t hearing it.
I didn’t even think. It just happened. It happened so fast. I show Mindy and I go, ‘Look what happened!’ She’s like, ‘What do you mean what happened? You did that! You just did that!’ I show Colbert and he is on the floor laughing—like, on the floor. Katie comes back like 90 seconds later and her and her husband are like, ‘So…we’re leaving.’ Like, ‘I don’t know why he wants to leave.'”
Oh. My. Goodness. If Katie and Jay didn’t clear up that misunderstanding, then I’m guessing they had… quite an interesting evening at home. So, what’s the key lesson here? Do NOT, under any circumstances, leave your cell phone by Amy Schumer. Especially if you tell her that you love humor!
