When Bobby Flay and Stephanie March split, it was one of the nastier high profile splits in recent memory. The terms of their prenup were made public (and seemed pretty stingy towards Stephanie in light of Bobby’s rumored net worth), and there were allegations of Bobby cheating. Someone even flew a banner that read “Cheater” over Bobby’s Walk of Fame ceremony where he was the first chef to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, the two were able to come to an “amicable” settlement.
Bobby and Stephanie released a joint statement:
We have come to an amicable divorce settlement. We look forward to putting this difficult time behind us, and we ask that you respect our privacy as we move forward.”
I’m guessing the fact that they released a joint statement and called it “amicable” suggests that Stephanie did better than the prenup, which gave her $5K a month for five years, I think.
Sources told TMZ that, while the negotiations were “rough,” ultimately Bobby didn’t want a trial, since Stephanie alleged infidelity in the divorce documents, so he was willing to compromise. As one source claimed:
He didn’t want a plane flying over the courthouse.”
I think that was probably a wise decision on Bobby’s part, especially when you consider that many of his fans are likely married women themselves. TMZ reports that they’ve determined that Stephanie herself did not order the banner flown over his Walk of Fame ceremony, but clearly the incident spooked him a bit, as it probably would anyone.
The exact terms of the settlement are not public, but sources say that Stephanie did “just fine.” I’m glad they were able to come to an agreement without things getting any nastier.
