Yesterday Bobbi Kristina Brown was laid to rest in New Jersey next to her mother, Whitney Houston. This was after a funeral in Atlanta on Saturday that was not drama-free: Bobbi’s aunt, Leolah Brown, interrupted the service with Pat Houston began to speak to tell Pat that Whitney would haunt her from the grave. Leolah was then escorted out of the service. However, one person never made it to the service: Nick Gordon, the man that Bobbi Kristina called “her husband” although they were never married.
Nick is now facing a $40 million civil lawsuit that was filed by Bobbi Kristina’s conservator, alleging domestic violence and that he transferred money out of her account after she was hospitalized in late January. He’s also a person of interest in a Georgia DA’s involuntary manslaughter investigation.
He was barred from visiting Bobbi Kristina in the hospital, hospice, and her funeral. His mother said he remembered his late girlfriend in her own way on Saturday, the day of her funeral. His mother said:
Nick went to beach with me on Friday during the services. He said the beach was always their favorite place to go so he decided that he would honor her at a place that they both loved.”
I can’t say I blame the Houstons and Browns for refusing to allow him to visit Bobbi Kristina or attend her funeral, given all of the allegations. It sounds like Nick and Bobbi were in an incredibly dysfunctional relationship. Although Bobbi Kristina might have been laid to rest, something tells me the legal maneuvering between Nick and her family is far from over.
