On Friday, the late Bobbi Kristina Brown’s conservator filed an amendment to the $40 million civil lawsuit against Nick Gordon, alleging that he was directly responsible for her death by giving her a “toxic cocktail” after an argument and then putting her in the bathtub and holding her face underwater. Nick’s attorney responded to the latest allegations.
Nick’s attorney, Jose Baez (the same attorney who successfully defended Casey Anthony), said this via his spokesperson in response to the new allegations:
The recent lawsuit against Nick is slanderous and meritless. Nick has been heartbroken and destroyed over the loss of his love and it’s shameful that such baseless allegations have been presented publicly. Nick has engaged civil counsel and intends to defend the lawsuit vigorously and expose it for what it is: a fictitious assault against the person who loved Krissy most.”
So clearly Nick plans to fight all of this.
At this point, no criminal charges have been filed against Nick. These allegations are all part of a civil lawsuit (now a wrongful death lawsuit) that has been filed. Atlanta legal analyst Phillip Holloway was asked if the amended civil lawsuit was to help move the criminal investigation forward.
It very well could be. I would be surprised if there was not some information sharing going on. Victim’s families are frequently kept in the loop.
“It paints him into a corner because he has to reply, either admitting or denying the charges. It’s very detailed. Lawyers are ethically prohibited from alleging things in a lawsuit unless they have support. This lawsuit accuses him of murder.”
Nick will be forced to respond to these allegations, and those responses could be used in a criminal investigation. Hmmm… that would explain all this legal maneuvering because I seriously doubt he has $40 million, which is what he’s being sued for. USA Today has the full lawsuit online.
