While a lot of people are talking about Kim Kardashian’s latest nude pic, showing off her baby bump, it turns out she’s got something worse to deal with behind the scenes: the FDA. Kim began promoting a morning sickness drug called Diclegis. There’s nothing unusual about Kim- or any other Kardashian- plugging products: they do it all the time. It turns out the rules are a little different when it comes to drugs, however.
The FDA sent the pharmaceutical company that produces Diclegis a warning letter, asking that Kim Kardashian’s posts about the drug be taken down because she failed to mention the risks that are associated with the drug. Oops!
The FDA said that her link to their website (where the risks are noted) was not sufficient since she implied that the drug was safe and posed no risks to the baby. OMG: there are risks to the baby?! Kim’s post, which has been deleted, read (per People):
[My doctor] prescribed me #Diclegis, I felt a lot better and most importantly, it’s been studied and there was no increased rick to the baby. I’m so excited and happy with my results that I’m partnering with Duchesnay USA to raise awareness about treating morning sickness.”
I hope Kim herself was aware of the risks before she took the drug! It sounds like the she should stick to non-government regulated materials for promotion ;).
