Have you been following Terrence Howard’s court proceedings against his second wife, Michelle Ghent? The ‘Empire’ star is trying to get their divorce settlement overturned on the grounds that she threatened to reveal embarrassing things about him, such as a nude video and the news that he used drugs, if he didn’t agree to the settlement. Yesterday was a particularly contentious day, and it was revealed that Terrence’s third wife, Mira Pak, had just divorced him, initiating proceedings back in March while she was still pregnant with their child.
The information was revealed yesterday in closing arguments. It apparently was a tough day for Terrence, with him repeatedly calling the revelations an “ambush.” The judge is said to have told the actor to “learn some restraint” and “cool your jets.” In an excerpt from one phone call played in court yesterday, Terrence was heard saying:
I’ve never been accused of being sane.”
Recorded phone calls and email excerpts revealed drug use, jealousy, and suicide threats from both Terrence and Michelle, his second wife. Here are some excerpts from Terrence’s texts and emails:
I’m sitting here at lunch hoping you’ll call … every minute of every day I feel like putting an end to this miserable existence … every lie I’ve told to you are equal in my mind to putting bullets into a clip and firing them at my future. … I am devastated by my stupidity.”
Another email read, “I couldn’t do anything but sit there [looking] at a f—ing razor blade … I just wanted to die … I’ll look for you in my next lifetime.”
“My heart still belongs to you,” he wrote in one email. “If I had to cut off both my arms to appease the things [I have] done, [I would].”
And in another text message, he wrote, “So if you are planning on living without me, you should have someone put me out of my misery.”
OMG. I don’t know what I would do if I received messages like that from someone!
Terrence alleged that Michelle was violent towards him, and in one phone call, she said:
You’re a great guy – you can be … you are such a good manipulator. … I think you’re crazy … I’ve done things in defense because you’ve hurt me … that last time.”
Terrence also seemed to be incredibly possessive, writing in texts:
I will never allow another man to be with you. Whoever tried to take my life will lose his existence,” he wrote in one text. In another: “I will never allow a restraining order or anything to keep me from my wife.”
He even reportedly offered to leave his third wife, Mira, if Michelle would take him back. No wonder Mira divorced him! And he’s done a great job of keeping his most recent divorce a secret, saying he’s been helping to care for their son. He may very well have been helping out, but it didn’t stop her from divorcing him. You know, I can understand Terrence not wanting to share his ‘Empire’ earnings with Michelle (which he is required to do under their divorce settlement), but something tells me that would’ve been better than having all this stuff come out about him at trial. These pictures are of Terrence and his ‘Empire’ co-star Taraji P. Henson at a photo shoot.
