I hadn’t heard any information about a funeral or memorial service for Frank Gifford after he died, but I assumed it was because the family kept the gatherings private. However, it turns out Kathie Lee Gifford didn’t have a funeral: instead, she threw a party to celebrate his life.
Kathie Lee explained the decision.
We did not have a service for Frank last week. We had a party. Frank hated funerals. He hated boxes. He hated to be put in boxes. He hated to get in an elevator. So we played Frank Sinatra all day long and we had a party. The only criteria was, if you were there you had to be somebody that he adored, so it kept it nice and small.”
That sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate Frank’s life, doesn’t it?
Some sort of event that the public can attend is being planned, although Kathie Lee stressed that it wouldn’t be called “a service” because Frank would “boomerang it.” LOL. Instead they’re working on:
some way to celebrate Frank’s life that the public could come to.”
The New York Giants plan to honor Frank’s memory by wearing a No. 16 patch on their helmets this season.
