Nick Carter is following in brother Aaron Carter’s footsteps: he’s dusting off his dancing shoes to go after the trophy in the 21st season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’! He declined the offer four previous times, but the producers were tenacious, getting a different result the fifth time.
Interestingly, it was former boy band rival (and now friend) Joey Fatone who persuaded Nick to do it. He explained:
[Joey] talks about it all the time and I was really debating if I wanted to do it, and he said, ‘It’s a great experience, it keeps you in shape and it’ll teach you a lot of stuff.’
“He said, ‘You’ll get what you put into it.’ And I’m a hard worker, so I think it’ll be fun.”
Sounds like some good advice!
Don’t think sibling rivalry hasn’t factored into it for Nick, either. Younger brother Aaron placed fifth in season nine of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
My brother was on it; he did great; and he’s a great little dancer and entertainer so I saw it through his eyes throughout that experience. And there’s a lot of competitiveness in me and I think there’s a little something inside of me that says, ‘Okay, I’m going to go there and represent the Carter name and do even better than what he did!'”
Sibling rivalry never dies- haha ;). Although he’s done plenty of performing on stage, Nick admitted he’s a bit nervous about his dancing skills.
I never considered myself a great dancer. Even though funny enough I’ve danced my entire life, I might have had a little insecurity on that end. But I felt this time around I had some time and I think it’ll be a cool experience. I think they can teach me some stuff. I hope maybe I can become a better dancer! It’ll be a great experience to learn how to ballroom dance.”
He’s also looking forward to the workout.
I have a tendency to get overweight pretty d**n fast, so dancing has always kept me slim.”
Nick will get plenty of exercise on ‘DWTS’! He joins Bindi Irwin and triple crown jockey Victor Espinoza on the new season of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
