The fallout continues for Josh Duggar in the wake of his latest sex scandal. He and Anna Duggar will cover the new issue of People, so the Duggars remain in the spotlight, but this surely isn’t how they intended to do so.
A “family source” told People:
It’s hurting everyone involved. Everyone feels betrayed.”
The Duggars reportedly did not respond to requests for comment.
When Josh and Anna met at a Christian conference in 2006, news of the police investigation into Josh’s sexual molestation of girls had not been made public. A source close to Anna said:
We all knew that something had happened, but it definitely wasn’t portrayed in its entirety. Anna did know, but it was kind of something that was swept under the rug, and nobody made a big deal out of it.”
Even after learning what happened, Anna’s parents “still gave their blessing” to their courtship and then marriage. The source added:
[T]here was always something a bit odd about Josh.”
That now seems like an almost comical understatement if the situation wasn’t so serious for Anna and her children.
The source said that when Josh got a job as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C.:
He sold it so well.”
Another source said the Duggars’ faith has not been shaken by all of this.
Their faith is in no way rocked by this. [Anna] is fully and permanently committed to her marriage and her children. Divorce is not even something that will be discussed.”
Well, I hope Josh is truly dealing with whatever he has to deal with for Anna and the kids’ sakes.
