While most of the Duggar clan is standing behind Josh Duggar as he seeks treatment for what he initially called an addiction to pornography and adultery after he admitted to cheating on wife Anna Duggar, Jessa (Duggar) Seewald seems to be breaking away from her family. The family she’s married into, the Seewalds, have become openly critical of Josh after he admitted to having an Ashley Madison account, and Jessa seems to be following her in-laws’ leads.
First Jessa’s father-in-law, Michael Seewald, wrote a blog post where he openly called Josh a hypocrite. Now Jessa’s sister-in-law, Jessica Seewald, is speaking out.
In a world riddled with people who profess Christ and His love with their mouths, yet with their lives portray a totally different set of values, sometimes it becomes necessary to stand up and speak the truth.
“Obviously you don’t stop loving someone you care about regardless of their bad choices. But I’m sure it’s heartbreaking. Ben and Jessa are very tender, so I’m sure they’re doing as much as they can for everyone involved.”
That seems to about sum up the Seewald’s view of the latest Duggar scandal.
I bet this has been hardest on Jessa of all the Duggars. Ben Seewald just graduated from community college last spring: does he even have a job? They may be feeling the loss of income from the cancellation of ’19 Kids and Counting’ more than anyone else. And with Jessa being pregnant with their first child, this would have been their time in the spotlight, just like it was for Jill (Duggar) Dillard when she was pregnant with her first child.
Jessa is clearly leaning on her faith these days:
My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found, Clothed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne! On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand.
Josh’s problems have had a massive ripple effect on his entire family; it’s truly unfortunate.
