I’ll “out” myself right now: I haven’t watched the Miss America pageant in YEARS. Even when I watched it as a kid, I’m not sure I ever watched the pageant all the way through. The talent section of the competition always baffled me as I watched the contestants do so many, well, different things. Last night Kelly Johnson, who was Miss Colorado this year, decided to skip the song and dance to talk about a noble profession: nursing.
Here’s the description of this video:
Miss America 2016 – While other contestants sang, danced or played instruments for the talent competition on the second night of preliminaries in Atlantic City, Kelley Johnson, Miss Colorado, delivered a unique monologue about experience as a nurse.
I think it’s fantastic that Kelley did that! Being a nurse is a talent in and of itself: it deserves recognition!
