Prince William and Prince Harry made a joint public appearance, but it wasn’t just shaking hands and cutting ribbons. The royal brothers rolled up their sleeves to help build homes for Air Force veterans this morning.
They joined other volunteers for the work. William was given the task of painting walls while Harry was asked to help a crew lay some paving slabs. After their tasks were assigned to them, William told Harry:
LOL- Love it!
Harry reportedly teased some workers who stopped to snap some selfies:
Don’t you have some work to be getting on with?”
He impressed Project Manager Mark Millar, who called Prince Harry “a legend.”
He can come and work on a site of mine anytime he likes. Harry really got stuck in laying the slabs. There was no airs or graces. He was a really great lad.
“There was quite a bit of banter about whether he was laying them properly. He was joking a lot about his rubber mallet, but he didn’t do too badly.”
Harry also teased William about his painting.
Was that the wall he was working on? I can tell. Give me that roller and let me do it properly.”
Clearly the two had a good time ;). Both of the princes are military veterans: William left the Operational Air Force in 2013, and Harry just completed a decade of service. The princes’ office released a statement about their commitment to veterans.
As the memory of conflicts fade and public focus beings to move elsewhere, both The Duke and Prince Harry will continue to draw attention to the ongoing challenges facing service personnel making the transition to civilian life.”
What a great cause! They posted some pictures and video on the Kensington Palace Instagram of their engagement.
