Preserve.us is now officially closed. Yesterday was the last day for Blake Lively’s website. She announced her decision to shut down the site a couple of weeks ago, saying that it simply launched too early and was never able to become what she envisioned it to be. Martha Stewart reacted to the closing of Blake’s lifestyle business.
Here’s the final message from Preserve:
That’s all you see on the Preserve website now.
Martha has been open about her dislike of celebrities moving into the lifestyle business, so what did she have to say about the closing of Preserve? Remember, she knows Blake and even gave her some tips before launching. Martha said:
I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I know she made a big effort. Sometimes shuttering is good. Listen, she’s a movie actress. Why bother with commerce right now? She’s at the top of her career… I’m totally supportive, but you know what? Maybe you can’t do everything at the same time.”
I think it’s safe to say Martha still doesn’t appreciate these actresses horning in on her turf ;).
Blake herself referred to wearing “too many hats” in her message to fans, but she doesn’t sound ready to give up on commerce yet, either. I’m guessing she’ll be back with something bigger, just when we least expect it! For now, she does seem to be focused on her acting career. These pictures were taken last week: Blake was on the set of the untitled Woody Allen movie.
