Have you seen the new cover of Shape magazine, which features ‘American Idol’ alum and country singer Carrie Underwood? She looks AMAZING seven months after giving birth to her first child, son Isaiah. Check out the cover after the break!
Shape posted the cover on its Instagram page:
Carrie shared her workout strategies.
I will take any type of workout I can get, whenever I can get it. For me, it’s the key to being happy and healthy. Though it’s difficult to find spare time these days.
“After I had Isaiah, my goal was to take control of my body again. I was lucky: I gained only 30 pounds, which is the recommended amount, and I exercised throughout my pregnancy. I did have a C-section, which meant waiting six weeks before working out. Within 10 days, though, I was able to begin walking slowly on the treadmill and around my neighborhood. It felt so good to be active!”
Walking on the treadmill ten days post C-section: goodness! Clearly Carrie was determined ;). I think it’s also important to note that she was careful about her weight gain during pregnancy. I bet that makes a big difference in shedding the baby weight: it’s a lot easier to drop 20 pounds than, say, 50 or 60!
Carrie told the magazine she exercises “almost every day” and also makes sure to take a few minutes just for herself.
I think it’s so important to sit quietly every day for 10 minutes. In the morning, I enjoy my cup of coffee and plan the day in my head to be ready for it. And sometimes at night, I sip a glass of red wine and just relax. I’ve learned to give myself a break.”
These are some great strategies that we should all consider, whether we’re trying to shed post-baby weight or just stay healthy!
