This is a great example of making lemonade out of lemons. Quinn Duane was five days away from getting married when her groom said he was having second thoughts and wanted to call off their wedding. Worse yet for the bride’s family (it sounds like they were the ones handling the wedding costs) most of the $35K that had been spent on the wedding was non-refundable at that point. OUCH. Kari Duane, Quinn’s mother, decided to make something good come out of such a heartbreaking situation.
Kari decided to turn the reception into a meal for the homeless. She said:
When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something we would do to give back.”
Quinn opted not to attend the event, but who can blame her? Talk about a heartbreaking situation!
I feel a lot of heartache and hearbreak for her (Quinn), but I will take away something really good from all this. I will.”
What an amazing response: talk about turning a tough situation into a positive one. Part of the nonrefundable $35K includes the honeymoon to Belize: Kari and Quinn will make it a mother-daughter trip. Hopefully it’s a healing time for them.
