Remember that Harry Potter “prequel” play that J.K. Rowling announced a while back? Turns out that it’s not a prequel, it’s actually a SEQUEL!! Fans exploded this week when the beans were spilled that the play Harry Potter & the Cursed Child will take place 19 years in the future, basically where the very end of Deathly Hallows ended!!
Book those flights to London now! The play starts next July and will be a two part special event. The play is two parts, ideally meant to be seen as a matinee and then an evening show. The show’s plot was given away on the play’s website.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
My Harry Potter lovin’ heart just burst into a pile of confetti!!! I’m a little sad that only fans with the resources to get to London will be able to enjoy the story, but I have this secret hope that maybe she’ll put it into book format sometime down the road for the rest of us?! Fingers and toes crossed.
What do you think about getting more of Harry Potter’s story?
