Oh boy. Talk about kicking a guy when he’s down! The Nye County Sheriff’s Department in Nevada has concluded its investigation into Lamar Odom’s medical emergency at a brothel in Nevada. Based on the results, the sheriff is recommending that Lamar be prosecuted for felony possession of cocaine.
The recommendation is presumably based on the results of Lamar’s blood test. It seems like he’s paying quite a price for his drug use already, between the brain damage from the strokes, the reportedly failed kidneys, and other medical problems he’s likely facing.
However, Lamar doesn’t have too much to worry about on this front. Although possession of cocaine can be punished by up to four years in prison, first-time offenders aren’t likely to be sentenced to prison. Thank goodness. Hopefully all the health issues he’s facing as well as the long recovery process that’s ahead of him have served as Lamar’s wake up call.
I’m sure Lamar is sincere at the moment about not using drugs. The real tests, however, will come in the days ahead, when the going gets tough and the oblivion of a high is really tempting. Hopefully Lamar will be able to resist even then.
