Don’t mess with Taylor Swift! In 2013, Taylor accused then-radio host David Mueller of groping her during a meet-and-greet with fans. After her management sent a letter to the radio station explaining what happened, David was fired. In September of 2015 he decided to sue Taylor, claiming her allegation was false. Taylor is now countersuing.
David admits that the assault occurred, but he claims it was because of “his superior” at KYGO, Eddie Haskell. It would be interesting to hear how David makes that case in his legal documents. In her counter suit, Taylor’s attorneys wrote:
Ms. Swift knows exactly who committed the assault – it was Mueller – and she is not confused in the slightest about whether her long-term business acquaintance, Mr. Haskell, was the culprit. Resolution of this Counterclaim will demonstrate that Mueller alone was the perpetrator of the humiliating and wrongful conduct targeted against Ms. Swift, and will serve as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts.”
As I said at the beginning, Do Not Mess With Taylor Swift.
Taylor alleged that when she met David and his girlfriend at the meet-and-greet and posed for a photo with them, he:
intentionally reached under her skirt, and groped with his hand an intimate part of her body in an inappropriate manner, against her will, and without her permission.
“Mueller did not merely brush his hand against Ms. Swift while posing for the photograph. He lifted her skirt and groped her.”
Oh My Goodness. I don’t blame Taylor for being angry. The nerve. Why in the world would David- or anyone- think it’s okay to do that to someone? Afterwards, Taylor was “surprised, offended, upset, and alarmed” and notified her photographer, security team, and the tour manager. Taylor wants a trial by jury and plans to donate any judgment to:
charitable organizations dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard.”
David Mueller reportedly has been fired from two other on-air jobs and hasn’t actually worked on the air as a radio personality since 2006; something tells me he doesn’t have the resources to pay a judgment, but the sentiment is great on Taylor’s part.
