Here’s a new trailer for Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt’s highly anticipated pairing for the big screen: ‘By The Sea.’ Angelina wrote and directed the film. One interesting thing I noticed on the poster above: I think it’s the first time I’ve ever seen Angelina credited as “Angelina Jolie Pitt.”
Here’s a synopsis for ‘By The Sea’:
By the Sea follows an American writer named Roland (Pitt) and his wife, Vanessa (Jolie Pitt), who arrive in a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France, their marriage in apparent crisis. As they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds Lea (Laurent) and François (Poupaud), and village locals Michel (Arestrup) and Patrice (Bohringer), the couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives.
In its style, and its treatment of themes of the human experience, By the Sea is inspired by European cinema and theater of the ’60s and ’70s.
You can see the ’60s and ’70s style in the trailer. This is certainly a much “quieter” movie than the film where Brad and Angelina met (‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’); it’s much more emotionally dramatic.
It’s scheduled to hit theaters next month. Do you think you’ll catch this on the big screen, wait to stream it at home, or is this one a pass for you? I can’t imagine “passing” on a movie with both Angelina and Brad!
