We all know who Carrie Fisher is. She became an icon in the original ‘Star Wars’ movies as Princess Leia. Every little girl wanted to wear her hair in two large buns like she did- LOL. Now she’s back in the reboot, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ and mentoring up-and-coming star, Daisy Ridley, who stars in the reboot as Rey. The two chatted for Interview magazine.
Interview magazine posted a couple of pictures and excerpts on Instagram:
During the interview, Daisy told Carrie that she’s always asked who was her favorite ‘Star Wars’ character from the original trilogy.
RIDLEY: People have been asking me about crushes out of the original film, and I say you every time. They were like, “Is there anyone you particularly look up to?” And I’m like, “Well, Carrie, obviously.”
FISHER: That’s good. You didn’t like Mark [Hamill] or Harrison [Ford]? This is the only time we’d ever have this conversation. [laughs]
RIDLEY: Of course, I like them both! But you’re a kick-a** woman.
FISHER: I’m your predecessor, I think.
RIDLEY: Exactly. You paved the way for all the girls.
Carrie also gave her a warning about dating now that she’s going to be in ‘Star Wars.’
I also said it’s hard to date once you’re a big Star Wars star because you don’t want to give people the ability to say, ‘I had sex with Princess Leia.'”
OMG. I never thought about that, but it’s true. They also discussed the perils of being a sex symbol.
RIDLEY: No, they always talk about how you’re a sex symbol, and how do I feel about that. [Fisher sighs] I’m not a sex symbol! [laughs]
FISHER: Listen! I am not a sex symbol, so that’s an opinion of someone. I don’t share that.
RIDLEY: I don’t think that’s the right—
FISHER: Word for it? Well, you should fight for your outfit. Don’t be a slave like I was.
RIDLEY: All right, I’ll fight.
FISHER: You keep fighting against that slave outfit.
Hopefully Daisy is heeding Carrie’s advice ;). Daisy filmed herself watching when the first full trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was released:
She’s in for quite a ride! This time next year, I bet we’ll be seeing some Rey costumes out there on Halloween ;).
