Have you been following the uproar (well, I kinda hope it really isn’t an uproar but just a few very vocal people) who are upset about Starbuck’s holiday cup (also called the “red cups” this year? Starbucks decided to make this year’s design very simple, a red ombre design. Some people are viewing this as a kind of “war on Christmas.” Candace Cameron Bure decided to speak out on the issue.
‘Fuller House’ star and ‘The View’ co-host, who’s well-known for her more conservative views, decided to address the controversy. Here’s her Instagram post on the matter:
Starbucks War on Christmas? It’s a red cup, folks. Until Starbucks puts a baby Jesus or nativity scene on the cup while saying Merry Christmas, then pulls it because they say it’s offensive, let’s talk. I don’t remember Starbucks ever being a Christian company, do you? A Santa, a snowflake, some holly, a polar bear, some jingle bells or plain red cup don’t define Christmas for me as a Christian. My relationship with Jesus does. So, I will joyfully sip on my Starbucks coffee, in a plain red cup, and instead of complaining about the lack of decorations, I will lovingly share the good news of Jesus Christ with friends and co-workers or anyone who’s willing to engage in conversation. Merry Christmas to all!
Hear, hear! How does not having a snowflake or something become “anti-Christmas”? It’s a red cup, for goodness’ sake (and a pretty elegant design, to boot)! What do you think of all of this? Are you boycotting Starbucks? I know I’ll be indulging in my eggnog chai next month ;).
