Rose reportedly blasted Caitlyn online, writing:
Caitlyn Jenner you do not understand what being a woman is about at all. You want to be a woman and stand with us- well learn us. We are more than deciding what to wear. We are more than the stereotypes foisted upon us by people like you. You’re a woman now? Well f—king learn that we have had a VERY different experience than your life of male privilege.
“Woman of the year? No, not until you wake up and join the fight. Being a woman comes with a lot of baggage. The weight of unequal history. You’d do well to learn it. You’d do well to wake up. Woman of the year? Not by a long f—king shot.”
Ouch. Rose is said to have written this in a Facebook post, but I can’t find that post. Us Weekly is reporting on the post.
Rose seems to have very strong feelings, but I do think she’s reflecting part of what was very apparent on Caitlyn’s reality TV show, ‘I Am Cait.’ While Caitlyn is obviously experiencing a major life change, it’s also clear that she enjoys a lot of privilege, even as a transgender woman. That doesn’t minimize the struggles she endured while trying to figure out her gender identity or the experience of transitioning from male to female, but Caitlyn does have more to learn about what being a woman entails: both the challenges as well as the fun stuff like fashion ;). What do you think of Rose’s post?
