SoulPancake has an amazing video up that is perfect for the upcoming holiday: Thanksgiving. We all focus on the food we’re about to enjoy next week, but it’s important to remember that there’s something even more important than the food: it’s the time we’ll get to spend with our family. This video, ‘What Actually Feeds a Family,’ reminds us of the importance of being connected.
SoulPancake sat down with several families- kids and parents separately- and asked them if they felt they were connected as a family. They didn’t seem to think so. They asked them what they wished their family members knew.
Then they asked the family to sit down and share a meal together. During the meal, they saw the videos of what they each had said in their separate interviews. Here’s the goal of the project:
There’s a bit of a divide in families today—and the solution may be closer than you think. The Mealtime Movement paired up with SoulPancake to conduct a social experiment where we brought kids and parents to the table and asked: “What REALLY matters to you?”. Watch now to see the results and discover how the table can become your key to connection.
The Mealtime Movement is on a mission to bring families together for mealtime moments and memories. What have you discovered about your family around a dinner table? #ThisIsMealTime

Something tells me it was incredibly eye-opening for both the kids and the parents! That sharing encouraged them to talk to each other. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of truly staying connected and how easy that is to do over a meal. Remember that for Thanksgiving. Check out the video, but I do recommend you make sure the kleenex is nearby. Your eyes might get a little watery ;).
