Sherri Shepherd likely isn’t happy that the court ruled she was the legal mother of her son via surrogate, Lamar Sally Jr., so she had to keep paying her ex, Lamar Sally, child support, but she hasn’t responded publicly. Lamar, however, has made a statement.
He spoke to People.
I’m glad it’s finally over. I’m glad the judges saw through all the lies that she put out there, and the negative media attention. If she won’t be there for L.J. emotionally, I’ll be parent enough for the both of us.”
His statement isn’t really surprising, is it?
Sherri talked previously about why she agreed to have a child with Lamar via surrogate:
My situation was a sense of, I didn’t state what I needed and what I wanted and what I didn’t want for being scared of somebody leaving the relationship. There are consequences to everything, but I was scared to say, ‘That’s not going to work for me. I don’t want that.’ “
The court apparently didn’t see it that way, noting that Sherri was the one who paid for most of the finances associated with the surrogacy. She can file one more appeal, however, with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Unfortunately, I don’t see her being successful. How can surrogacy work if the parents are allowed to change their minds after a child has been conceived? I’ve gotta ask your thoughts about this one…
