About two or three years ago now, girls stopped taking their scarves off when it came time for spring. Sure, the material got lighter, but that little wisp around the shoulders became a staple that it seems mainstream, mid-price retailers are finally ready for this year. The vintage stores I was turning upside down to find them can breathe again!
Colors and shapes are all over the place, but the fabric is consistent- most girls are choosing whisper-light silks and cottons. This trend does a lot to punch up a look without spending a bunch of money at one time (although if going luxe is your thing, check out
this beautiful version from Missoni). I like wearing them over a thin, strappy tank top or with a sundress; you're still showing the nice line of your neck- a pretty part of almost every girl- without feeling naked.
