Could Paula Abdul Be The Next Oprah?
Oprah Winfrey may not end 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' until 2011, but people are already talking about possible replacements. Paula Abdul is ready to step up and would like to start her own talk show within two to three years.
"I have really great ideas," Abdul told "Extra" Monday from her cousin's new store, Tweak 99.
"[My show] would be fun and quirky and it would be insightful," she said. "It would be fun to jam with the band and have amazing guests and introduce amazing different formats on the show.
"I feel I would be really good at it. I have the ability to connect with people on a level," Abdul explained. "I've proven to pierce the heartstrings, but also to be celebratory and bring out the best in people."
However, Paula calls Oprah "a phenomenon."
"[Oprah] broke barriers and let the path for other women to be empowered."
She added, "Like 'American Idol,' there's a place and time that makes history. That's Oprah."

ABC Cancels Adam Lambert's 'Good Morning America' Performance
Well, if Adam Lambert was upset when ABC and Dick Clark Productions edited his AMA performance, I'm sure he's really upset now: ABC has cancelled his scheduled performance on 'Good Morning America.' It was scheduled to take place tomorrow.
An ABC News spokesperson tells Access, "Given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning."
Well, maybe Adam shares the philosophy that any press is better than no press. We're hearing a lot more about him than the person who actually won 'American Idol' his year! Do you think ABC is over-reacting?

Mariah Carey Lives Up To Her Diva Reputation
Apparently Mariah Carey's diva demands were a bit too much for one British television presenter, Kate Garraway, when Mariah taped an appearance on her show, 'Good Morning Television.'
"We had Mariah Carey in the GMTV studios last week, where she was pre-recording an interview with Lorraine Kelly. I've heard a lot of rumors about her being a diva over the years and guess what? It turns out it's all true!'
"While Mariah was very nice, the amount of people she had in her entourage was hilarious.
"They outnumbered the entire GMTV crew! She had two people to lower her on to the GMTV sofa, in case her dress got crushed, one person to walk in front of her backwards at all times in case she fell over and several people behind the camera making sure she was going to be filmed from the right angle!
"Have you ever heard anything like it? Oh, and she brought her own toilet roll as well."
I'm lucky I wasn't there: I would not have been able to keep a straight face through it all! Well, it's not like Mariah denies being a diva.

But only under certain conditions, Nadya Suleman explained to 'Good Morning America.'
"If I wanted to do it the traditional way and get married," she said, "That's like another chapter."
For now, however, Nadya is not planning on having more children. She's struggling to support the 14 she has. Her household expenses include:
- - $1,000 in groceries and buying about 700 diapers per week,
- - eight loads of laundry and going through four and a half gallons of milk per day, and
- - $10,000 for five nannies per month.
Which is why she relies on reality TV specials to support her children. She reportedly earned $250,000 for the first year of access to her family and half of that went directly to caring for the octuplets alone.
"I'm d*mmed if I do and d*mmed if I don't," she told the filmmakers. "Because if I don't do what I need to do in the media to take care of and support the kids, I can't take care of them."
Nadya said she's "basically been a science experiment for the past 10 years." You can see a video of her 'Good Morning America' appearance here.
Well, maybe she shouldn't have put herself in this position in the first place, but there's no undoing it now. Do you think Nadya is doing the right thing by relying on reality TV?

Rosie O'Donnell Dislikes The Single Life
It may have been two years since Kelli Carpenter moved out of her home with Rosie O'Donnell, but Rosie is still having a difficult time adjusting to being single again.
"I'm not [enjoying the single life]," O'Donnell told PEOPLE Monday at Rosie's Broadway Extravaganza annual gala. "But on we grow, so to speak."
A friend of hers told People that Rosie waited two years to let the public know about the split because of their children, who Rosie said are doing "very well." Her friend said Rosie is also doing well.
"She seems happy and grounded. She's in the drivers seat here."
Good for Rosie and Kelli for being able to keep this private for two years! I'm sure it's never easy for kids to have to deal with their parents splitting in public, but at least they've had some time to adjust.

Hugh Jackman Will Star In 'Real Steel'
Hugh Jackman has lined up his next project, and it looks like a winner! The movie is called 'Real Steel,' and it's being executive produced by Steven Spielberg. 'Real Steel' is based on a short story by Richard Matheson.
Story centers on a fighter who has to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by robots. Jackman will play a struggling Robot Boxing promoter who finds a discarded robot that always seems to win. He also discovers he has a 11-year-old son, and they bond as the robot brawls its way toward the top.
Although grounded in the father-son relationship... the film [is] a "rousing sports movie" with Jackman's character "a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he's good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace."
With Hugh and Steven involved, it certainly looks promising. Interested?

John Mayer Feels A Special Kinship With Gerard Butler
While John Mayer was giving an interview to Details magazine (it's in their December issue), he encountered actor Gerard Butler. The two reportedly spoke briefly. When the interview asked John about the conversation, John explained the connection he feels with Gerard.
"We talked about New York . . .We're in a bit of the same position of being branded womanizers."
John said he dislikes the whole idea of dating/not dating someone for professional reasons.
"You just never know who's going to come into your life," he says. "To my mind, the only thing sicker than saying, 'Wow, you're a famous person and it would do a lot for my career to go out with you,' is to say, 'Wow, you're a famous person and I like you and all, but I can't do that to my career.' I don't think either of those is a good option."
And what does John have to say to his detractors?
"What if I had a booth on the street and I said, 'Attention, everybody who hates me: If you have a problem with me, I'm ready to hear your gripes! ....I will only be speaking to people who do not like me. Come out and let me have it. I will not speak back.' "
