Beyonce has vowed to wear “appropriate” clothing for her controversial show in Malaysia. The ‘Crazy in Love’ singer’s scheduled concert in the country’s capital Kuala Lumpur on October 25 has been met with anger by Islamic extremists, who claim her sexy outfits and provocative stage routines are “immoral” and will corrupt young people.
But the 28-year-old star – who had to pull out of a concert in the country two years ago after the same group, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, threatened to protest at the show – has agreed to tone down her performance, meaning the concert can go ahead.
Show organizers Marctensia said all parties had reached an “amicable understanding”.
A spokesperson for the entertainment company added:
“We are confident that the concert will once and for all silence international critics and put Malaysia back on track… in presenting A-list international pop concerts in this region.”
In August 2007, Gwen Stefani was told to cover up for her Malaysian concert. The flamboyant star wore “sober” outfits but called it a “major sacrifice. She put jackets over her tops and leotards underneath her skirts and dresses, to conform to the guidelines for the show.
What do you think about these stars changing their on stage looks to appease religious groups?

Lucky them. LOL
they won’t get to see her crotch ..too bad (i kid)
I LOVE her dress! But from the side it looks like she has a sagging muffin top.
I’m not sure why people are saying that Beyonce made a big deal about her clothing since there’s nothing to indicate she did. This isn’t unusual for Malaysia to do. A lot of female artists are asked to cover-up whenever they perform. Some do and others decide not to perform at all.
She needs to wear clothes that FIT her. Everything this girl wears is like 3 sizes too small! I don’t blame Malaysia for telling her to cover up, she’s always hanging out.
its good they cover up a little bit more and respect other countries and/or religious groups. it’ll be interesting to see what she wears.
I think that it is respectful to be considerate of the religion if you are going to that country… and quite frankly I wish she would cover up more often… she looks llike a slut.
i am a malaysian i am shame of some of malaysian extremist behave…they were hypocrite coz some of malaysian artist wears many inappopriate dress yet nobody think to banned them…
“Single Ladies” will look silly in a Baju Kurung and Tudung. (The Malaysian national dress) She might as well wear Givenchy’s Couture Abayah, from Fall 09 collection. The crotch and bum wriggling dance moves will be a problem though….(lol)
Yeah the malaysian ppl might not be like us but it doesnt mean we have to judge them. every country has different views and thats what makes the world so interesting. They seem to be very set in their ways about the way ppl dress and it’s part of their culture and tradition.. so we should respect it.
I’m not a fan of Beyonce, but it will be interesting to see what she wears.
There is nothing wrong with respecting local religious and cultural sensitivities. Things that are commonplace in one culture are out of the ordinary for another culture, and if Beyonce wants to go there and make millions off ticket prices, she should come to an understanding with the different stakeholders in malaysia who want to strike a balance. this happens more than we think and in industries other than music/entertainment. its no biggie.
I think stars should adhere to the rules of the country they are performing in. Countries don’t have the same law/rules. They have fans all over the world that spend their money on their music. The least they could do is follow simple rules to give them a concert.
As the saying goes…When in Rome.
Just show the ppl respect, it’s their country.
I can’t WAIT to see her outfit for that performance. Don’t get me wrong Beyonce always looks great but she’s always in leotards with her boobs and ass hanging out and showing a lot of leg…
I agree with the general consensus.
This really has nothing to do with Malaysia, because they are very fashionable people (in Kuala Lumpur alone there are many Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Prada stores etc.). This is all the Islamic extremists. Such a shame, because they are giving Malaysia bad publicity, again
