First Look: Alicia Keys' Video For 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart'

Can Alicia Keys do wrong? Highly unlikely! Here's her new video for 'Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart'.

Have you ever try sleeping with a broken heart?
Well you could try sleeping in my bed
Lonely, own me, nobody ever shut it down like you

When asked about the concept of the video, Alicia said:

"It basically pictures the movie 'Hancock' or the character Rogue from 'X-Men' and the way that they have an incredible power that is a blessing but also their curse."

Take a look and let me know what you think.

First Look: Alicia Keys Cover Art For 'The Element Of Freedom'

First Look: Alicia Keys Cover Art For 'The Element Of Freedom'

The cover art has come out for Alicia Key's newest album entitled 'The Element of Freedom'. Did you know that this will be her 5th solo album to date?! I had no idea she had so many under her belt.

What do you think about the look?

When asked about her musical methods, Alicia admitted her process has changed since 2001 when she hit the scene.

"Before I used to kind of just totally lock myself in a room and create for like months on end thinking that was the best way to create music," Keys says. "But now I've really learned a balance between creativity and play and working and experiencing, and it's really made the process of creating this record a lot more pleasurable."

And why did she name the album what she did?

"Every song that you hear on the album has an element of freedom in it. If it's the way that I'm singing, or the style that I'm explaining something," Keys says. "For me, freedom is a big deal -- I think for all of us because we're all looking for our wings to fly, to not be held back, to be free to be who we are. So that's another reason why I called it 'The Element of Freedom.' "

Alicia also opened up about working with Whitney Houston:

"I love being a part of Whitney Houston's comeback, and me and [producer] Swizz [Beatz] being able to get into the studio and create this sound for her and this song for her," says Keys. "She is such a dynamic force; it was really an honor and a pleasure."

And naturally Jay Z came up in conversation:

"He called me up he said I have this really great New York record ('Empire State of Mind'), and I couldn't think of anyone else who would be better."

Keys says, "The piano was in it, and I did some writing on it as well, and some playing on it, and just put my whole heart into it and I'm so proud of it and I'm so glad that the world loves it."

I LOVE that song. My kids even can sing Alicia's part - that's how often we listen to it in the car.

Are you an Alicia fan?

Love it Or Hate It: Alicia Keys

Love it Or Hate It: Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys was spotted heading into the MTV Studios to tape a segment for It's On With Alexa Chung. She's wearing an interesting pair of boots. What do you think? They are very bold and could come in handy if you want to double check your makeup in the shiny side. LOL!

Alicia is going to be performing at the American Music Awards in November. Rihanna, Jay-Z, and Taylor Swift are just a few of the others that will be up on stage, as well. After the great show they each put on at the MTV Music Awards, I just might tune in for the AMA's. :)

Jay Z Says Lil' Mama Pulled A Kanye During The MTV Video Music Awards

Jay Z Says Lil' Mama Pulled A Kanye During The MTV Video Music Awards

While sitting down with Hot 97's Angie Martinez, Jay-Z talked about how upset he was when Lil' Mama rushed the stage during his performance on the MTV VMA's earlier this month.

“I would never do that. I would never have the nerve to do that. We go to rehearsals, we do run-throughs, and we work really hard on the performance to put on a show for people. And to interrupt that moment for us, I don’t think that was the right thing to do.

I actually thought it was the equivalent of what Kanye did to Taylor Swift but nobody really talked about that because I’m not a lil sweet girl from middle America.”

“I’m cool with her being excited and all that, but you also have to understand people put in work to make that performance happen–the planning of it, there's a lot of planning that went into that performance. To disrupt that is out of line.”

“I was a little angry–but what imma do, fight Lil Mama?”

What do you think about what happened? Is it equivalent to what happened between Taylor Swift and Kanye West?

Gucci And Mary J. Blige Celebrate The Foundation For The Advancement Of Women Now

Gucci And Mary J. Blige Celebrate The Foundation For The Advancement Of Women Now

To benefit the Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN), Gucci and Mary J. Blige celebrated September 16th as Gucci for FFAWN Day in New York. Gucci donated 10% percent of the day’s sales from its New York 5th Avenue Flagship store to FFAWN.

Gucci toasted the evening with a private in-store cocktail party co-hosted by Mary J. Blige with guests including Alicia Keys, Estelle, Devon Aoki, Leigh Lezark, Serena Williams, Mark Ronson, Donald Trump, Russell Simmons and Lebron James.

In honor of Gucci for FFAWN Day, Mary J. Blige hosted a lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building earlier in the day to light the world-famous icon in FFAWN’s colors—purple, yellow and white.

I always love to find out the meaning behind the Empire State Building's colors.
