Ashanti's outfits always surprise me. It must be so invigorating to walk outside, wear whatever you want and not worry about how mainstream you look. Here she is at the Heineken Red Star Soul in Hollywood held at Boulevard3.

Page Six Magazine will feature Ashanti this week. The artist opened up about her career, her future wedding plans and her respect for Rihanna. Here is your sneak peek to her interview:

On her career coming to a halt in 2005:

“That was the worst part—not having a say as to what’s happening in my own life,” she says. “To a singer, that’s like telling them they’re dying. It was tragic.”

On finding it hard to watch artists like Fergie and Rihanna fill her void:

“I’d hear a song on the radio and wish mine was next. But I respect a lot of the artists who’ve come along since I was out, especially Rihanna. She’s smart and she’s worked the business instead of having the business work her.”

Back in action now, Ashanti is even more driven, and not just with career.  Having two children with her boyfriend and fellow artist Nelly, she says thoughts are turning to marriage.

“I’ve been planning my wedding in my head since I was a little girl, and it just keeps getting more elaborate. I’m a huge fan of the Caribbean, so if I don’t get married in New York, it would have to be on the beach.”

Ashanti attended Sephora's 10 Year Party Event in NYC wearing a brightly colored floral dress and blue pumps.  It fits her well and I love a good floral. But I'm on the fence with this look. Your thoughts?

On a side note can you believe Ashanti is 27? She looks 20 in these pics.

Nearly everyone attended the Cartier's Third Annual Loveday Celebration held at a private residence in Bel Air. Can you IMAGINE what that house looked like? I wish we could have seen those shots.

Ashanti wore an all white outfit while promoting her brand new cd, The Declaration at the Virgin Megastore in NYC. I had the opportunity to attend this promotion, but had already committed to meeting Miss Brooke Shields instead. Looks like it was a lot of fun! Ashanti is quite the performer.

She's left her mark on the music industry and now it seems that Ashanti has other dreams that need conquering... the movies. Looks like this singer is hoping to do more behind the scenes work. I just love her attitude towards trying new things.

"I’m always reading scripts. I’m even looking to get into some behind-the-scenes work. Maybe do some co-producing. It’s all about taking chances. You can’t be afraid to try something different."

Ashanti arrived to the 10th Anniversary Inspiration Award Gala in a floor length animal print dress with black shoes and chunky bracelets. I think animal print can look very chic and gorgeous and I love a red lip, but what do you think of Ashanti's look?
